Information about IVF egg donors at AVA-Peter

Our IVF egg donors
At AVA-Peter, we maintain our own database of IVF egg donors: attractive, young, fertile women who have passed through the medical screening process, recommended by law. The majority of ladies who need donated eggs to become pregnant have encountered difficulties in finding a suitable IVF egg donor. Not everyone has a female relative or friend who has enough motivation and will to go through the egg donation process on their behalf.

Finding your own egg donor
Egg donation is a process that requires a great amount of responsibility from the IVF egg donor. She must be willing to undergo the whole IVF treatment cycle up to and including the step of egg retrieval. She must be able to accept the fact that, if successful, the process will lead to conceiving a child with her genes. She should also be prepared for the fact that the treatment may fail. Finding such a special young lady among your relatives is incredibly hard.
In some situations sisters or friends suggest themselves as donors, although just some of them are ready to commit to the time and determination that egg donation requires. And even then, you may not wish to accept the offer, for example if the lady concerned has many differences in appearance with you. It is a highly private issue, yet the would-be donor may be offended if you turn her down. There may also be reasons related to health why a person should not be an IVF egg donor. For example, many clinics do not accept IVF egg donors who are overweight, or who are too old for this form of treatment to have a high success chance. In addition to that, the potential IVF egg donor may feel under pressure to donate, and we have encountered many cases where an offer to donate is then retracted when the donor becomes more acquainted with what is expected of her. For the childless woman or couple who are relying on this IVF egg donor, such a refusal can be devastating.

Shortage of IVF egg donors
Sadly, it can also be a hard task to find an IVF egg donor via a clinic or hospital. A large amount of European countries now have legislation prohibiting anonymous egg donation. Since this came into power, the amount of ladies who wish to donate their eggs to help childless couples has considerably decreased. In countries such as Switzerland , Italy, Germany, Norway and Austria egg donation is completely illegal. In the Netherlands, many clinics do not accept IVF egg donors younger then 30, or those who still want to have more children of their own, while egg recipients should be younger than 45. Even in countries with much more tolerant legislation, such as UK, the prohibition of anonymity results in IVF egg donor shortage and waiting lists for egg donation prolonging up to some years. The possibility of finding an IVF egg donor at all, and finding the one who fits your requirements, is often an extremely hard task.
The AVA-Peter Donor Bank
To prevail over the shortage of IVF egg donors, AVA-Peter has set up an own egg donor ‘bank’. Our donors all have proven fertility, with at least one child of their own. They have gone through thorough medical tests, and are ready to donate as soon as they are chosen. Thanks to these ladies, AVA-Peter has no waiting list for egg donation.
